What is LiveHealth Online? 

LiveHealth Online is an internet based communication tool intended to facilitate health care services rendered by physicians to you, the consumer. It is a convenient way for you to interact with and get treatment from a doctor in your state using the internet (two-way video). No appointment is necessary. LiveHealth online is not licensed to practice medicine and does not render medical care.

Through LiveHealth Online's internet based communication tool, you can now choose from a list of available doctors and get medical care and advice from your home, office or anywhere you have an internet connection and a computer that meets the system requirements. LiveHealth Online is secure, private, and easy-to-use.

Why would I use the LiveHealth Online communications tool instead of going to visit my doctor in person?

The choice to use the LiveHealth Online communication tool is different for each person. For some, busy schedules, location, or other conflicts make it hard to get to the doctor's office. It also depends on the type of condition you need care or treatment for. Sometimes there's just no substitute for actually going to the doctor in person. But other times, the convenience of having a doctor a click away can help you get the care you need when you need it. LiveHealth Online should not be used for emergency care. If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Doctors using LiveHealth Online are not able to prescribe controlled substances or lifestyle drugs.

When is the LiveHealth Online communication tool available?

Doctors using the LiveHealth Online tool have indicated they will be online seven days a week throughout the hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. in your time zone.

Do doctors have access to my health information?

If you enroll and set up an account, doctors using the LiveHealth Online communication tool can access your health information and review previous treatment recommendations and information from other visits you have had with doctors using the LiveHealth Online communication tool. However, the doctors using the LiveHealth Online communication tool, in most cases, will not have access to all of your personal health information across your entire lifetime, and therefore it is important to share with the doctor you choose all pertinent information.

If you are using the LiveHealth Online communication tool for the first time, and have not enrolled or set up an account, you will be asked to answer a brief questionnaire to gather relevant health information before you speak with a doctor. Please note that if you do not enroll and set up an account, you will not be able to use insurance benefits that might otherwise be available. You will have the option to setup an account after your consult with your online doctor, so the information from your online visit will be available for future doctor visits that occur using the LiveHealth Online tool.

How does online care work? Do I need an appointment?

If you are located in a state in which LiveHealth Online is operating, you can use the LiveHealth Online tool to see a doctor right away without setting up an account. Please note that if you do not enroll and set up an account, you will not be able to use insurance benefits that might otherwise be available. Simply choose an available doctor to speak with, describe your medical concern, and enter some basic personal information to begin. Once connected, you can talk and interact with the doctor you have chosen as if you were in a private exam room.

You can also setup an account after your visit with your online doctor. Establishing an account allows you to securely store your personal, health, and payment information so you can more easily connect with doctors in the future, share your health history, and even schedule future online visits at times that are convenient for you.

How long does a doctor’s visit usually last?

A typical doctor's visit is about 10 minutes.

How much does it cost to use LiveHealth Online?

The doctor’s charge is listed on his or her profile page. LiveHealth Online will collect this amount on behalf of the doctor by charging your credit card and will arrange for appropriate payment to the doctor. If your health plan provides insurance coverage for the visit, you will need to enroll in LiveHealth Online to be able to obtain insurance benefits. There is no additional charge to enroll. Only enrolled users will have the option to select from a list of insurance plans that will cover some or all of the cost of a LiveHealth Online visit. Check with your health plan to see if your plan has an arrangement with LiveHealth Online for payment under your health benefit plan.

Will I be charged more if I use LiveHealth Online on weekends, holidays or at night?

No. The cost is the same.

How do I pay for my doctor’s visit using the LiveHealth Online communication tool?

LiveHealth Online offers a service to physicians to collect the fees for the doctor's visit. The LiveHealth Online tool will accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards for these visits. Please note that charges for prescriptions are not included in the fee for the LiveHealth Online visit.

Can I get online care from a doctor if I'm traveling or in another state?

As long as you are located in the state where the doctor is licensed to practice, you can receive online care in any state in which the LiveHealth Online communication tool is available to doctors.
